Świat konsumpcji: przekraczanie własnego ego

Abstrakt


The article tackles the vast problem affecting us – consumption as a basic “life narrative”. It tries to answer the question : is the world of consumption the only and right one for us? Contemporary life is surrounded by achieving a wide range of impressions, a tendency for pleasure and rejoice when we satisfy our needs, we get self-satisfied. Corporations throw in a life style which rotates around the so called “consumption haven” creating a kind of McWorld perceived as collective irrationality, based on consumption and vastly known as profit logic.

Our life is accompanied by a figment of mass culture motored by unstoppable consumption.

A person loses himself when leading a consumption style of life. People should live convinced that money is a means for living and not the main goal. Way of life shouldn’t be dependent on money, but love for somebody, friendship, vocation, responsibility to other peoples’ fate, dedication to a particular group, institution or the belief in an important issue. The antidote for the pursuit of a consumption lifestyle should be the search of oneself, forming of relationships with other people, creating the RIGHT EGOISM, which is a reception of responsibilities with full commitment, looking beyond ourselves, hence finding a final goal higher than the self, going past our own ego.
